Bio: Mohammed A. A. Abulela

Mohammed Abulela is a Research Scientist at MetaMetrics, Inc., specializing in educational measurement, psychometrics, research design, and applications of artificial intelligence in educational measurement. His current research interests include AI-enhanced assessment, large language models’ bias, item difficulty estimation, validity evidence, test-taking behavior, and careless responding. At MetaMetrics, he conducts psychometric and applied research supporting the Lexile^® Framework for Reading and the Quantile^® Framework for Mathematics, including linking, assessment quality, and growth models. Dr. Abulela’s professional experience spans academia, large-scale assessment, research consulting, and medical education. He previously served as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at South Valley University in Egypt and has contributed to national assessment projects, quantitative research consulting, and medical assessment research. He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and presented extensively at national and international conferences. He has also received the Best Paper Award twice from the American Educational Research Association’s Survey Research in Education Special Interest Group for his work on survey design and validation. His academic preparation includes two master’s degrees and two doctorates spanning learning sciences and educational measurement and evaluation.
